Fruit Day 2014
Hundreds of people came along to Abundance Fruit Day on a beautiful September day in St Marks Church garden. We sold over £1,200 of produce, including about 300 jars of jam (ranging from affordable £1 jars to gourmet preserves), 50 litres of freshly pressed apple juice, as well as dozens of cakes, pies, plants etc. There was Wimbledon honey to buy, advice on caring for your fruit tree, children could make an apple pie to take home and enjoy games and music from the acclaimed International Ukulele Orchestra. Most of the money will be spent on keeping the project going and any excess will be donated to local charities. |

This year, we were delighted to welcome along artists to paint the Fruit Day scene, as part of the Wimbledon Autumn Arts Festival. There were prizes for young and old, and the winning paintings then took centre stage in an Elys window display. We are grateful to Elys for supporting our local artists and to Clare from Ricards Lodge’s art department for organising it all. See some photos HERE and HERE.
